HANOI

Welcome to Hanoi

Christen's homecooked pho was the best ever!

Lots of shops in Hanoi selling old (or relatively new) propaganda posters and tshirts. This one celebrates the 30th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu.

The cathedral in Hanoi. Cute neighborhood around it.

The French brought the baguette. You can pretty much buy fresh bread from any street corner in Hanoi

Vinny, Josh, Christen and I enjoying yummy Bun Cha by the side of the road. Grilled pork, fresh greens and rice noodles dipped in a diluted fish sauce . Oh and with beers costing 2000 dongs per glass. 2000 dongs = 15 cents.

Crazy water puppets

Evening scene in Hanoi

Night out at the 17 Saloon. A funny little bar.

Street food vendor. We had yummy rice noodle thingies here for breakfast.

SAPA

Cat Cat village, a Black H'mong village about 3km south of Sapa.

A Black H'mong woman

Drying their clothes no the big rocks by the river.

We hiked from all the way over there, and have to hike back all the way over there.

Hillside terracing

The Silver Waterfall. About 100m tall

This is the highest mountain pass in Vietnam

Road going towards Dien Bien Phu near the Laos border.

On the road

The 2 drivers with a Minsk

Wide load!

Not a bad photo taken from the back of the Minsk

Little guy with his herd

2 little boys took us inside this cave. It was dark and slippery but at least we got cool torches

Old goats, young goats, middle aged goats

Little girl, big animal.

Vinny eyeing the road.

With Ke - a Black H'mong. She spoke fluent English and French. Smart smart girl.

Bun Cha, Hue style

Sunset over Sapa

HALONG BAY

Trying to get out of the busy port

Lounging on the boat

It's only 1pm

Inside the Amazing Cave - very original name.

Junks near the island with the cave.

Jumping in from the top deck

I made it about 3/4 of the way up.
